I’m a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and a Nutritional Therapy Consultant! Oh, and I’m a wife and mama of two! I have a passion for nutrient dense food and sweaty workouts! Here’s the thing though, I’m not your typical trainer or nutritionist. I would never force you to go to spend hours at the gym everyday and eat egg whites and oatmeal, because that makes the majority of us unhappy and sick. I can tell you that because I WAS doing that. I would log sometimes 2 hours a day at the gym, mainly doing cardio, and survive on nothing but egg whites, grapefruit, and plain oatmeal. Was I lean? Sure. Muscular? Nope. Strong? Not at all. Happy? Nope. Tired? Yes. Hungry? YES! And somehow nothing was ever good enough.
If I slept in later than usual and had to do five minutes less on the stairclimer, my day was ruined. If I was invited out to dinner or to a family party where “bad” food was going to be present, I would decline. If I had a bite of an apple when it wasn’t in my meal plan, I would think about that apple for days, wondering how much cardio had to be done to burn it off. I developed bulimia in high school, but I remember my body image disorders beginning in grammar school and just getting worse from there on out. My energy was gone, I was tired all the time, and my stomach was bloated and painful the majority of the time even though I was eating so little. Finally, I decided I wanted to be happy. I wanted to feel good from the inside out. That’s when I turned my attention to food that makes me feel nourished and satisfied, instead of the calorie count. I started lifting heavy weights to get stronger and only did cardio out of enjoyment. I learned to heal my body from the inside out for better skin, better digestion, balanced hormones, more energy, and most importantly, more happiness. Now I want to do the same for you!
